ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCTS
El Dorado Engineering (EDE) is a full service consulting/design firm
providing solutions to environmental problems across the world. EDE
specializes in environmental challenges involving explosives and
pyrotechnics contamination and munitions demilitarization. Services provided by EDE include items such as:
Pollution Control,
Air Modeling,
Permitting,
Compliance, and
Remediation.
POLLUTION CONTROL EQUIPMENT
EDE now builds transportable pollution control systems
to compliment our transportable flashing furnace (TFF). EDE developed this novel solution
as society has become more aware of the impacts and concerns related to environmental issues.
This approach still allows the versatility of site operations allowed by EDE's TFF, but will
also significantly reduce the environmental impacts associated with thermal processing.
Additionally, EDE has designed and provided all types of air pollution control
equipment and systems including thermal oxidizers (afterburners),
cyclones, baghouses, wet and dry gas scrubbers, fans, and stacks. Work
can range from consulting up to a turnkey system with installation and
startup.
EDE is the US representative of the Caldo high temperature filter
system.
AIR MODELING
|
EDE has performed all types of air modeling for Environmental
Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, and RCRA Part B & Subpart
X requirements. Besides using public and EPA models, EDE has developed
and validated a proprietary air dispersion model, the Products of
Combustion/Atmospheric Dispersion (PCAD) computer model. For the
development of this model, EDE received the national Tibbets Award and
was featured by the US Navy in their compilation of
SBIR success stories.
The PCAD model combines combustion, plume rise, and dispersion
algorithms for unconfined combustion events into a single program that
has been validated by real world testing. This model is ideal for
understanding open burning or open detonation of explosives and
propellants, rocket motor firings, or accidental fires.
EDE has provided modeling services for NASA's Space Shuttle Booster,
disposal of Pershing missile motors under the INF Treaty, as well as
numerous RCRA subpart X permits and risk assessments for human health
and environmental impact. EDE has also modeled air emissions from
accidental spills/fires and processes involving hazardous chemicals.
|
PERMITS
EDE prepares air and RCRA (hazardous waste) permits for sites
dealing with explosives and munitions disposal as well as the
manufacturing of PEP (pyrotechnics, explosives, and propellant)
materials.
|
AIR PERMITS
|
EDE prepares complete air permit applications including
Operating Permits (Title V) for industry. We utilize all EPA
approved modeling programs.
|
|
RCRA PERMITS
|
EDE prepares complete RCRA Part B hazardous waste permit
applications. We specialize in Subpart O (incineration) and
Subpart X (Miscellaneous units such as open burning and
contained treatment).
|
|
RISK ASSESSMENTS
|
EDE performs risk and environmental assessments for
operations treating energetic wastes.
|
COMPLIANCE
EDE performs a wide variety of services to assist clients in
maintaining and improving their environmental compliance profile.
| FIELD SAMPLING |
EDE conducts on-site sampling of soil, surface water, and
air to evaluate operational impacts of industry and energetics
treatment. |
| PLANNING |
EDE prepares environmental plans and documentation such as
environmental assessments, site safety and health plans,
explosives safety submissions, RFI and RI/FS work plans,
community relations plans, closure plans, and sampling plans.
These documents are coordinated with, and approved by, EPA,
state agencies, Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Technical Center
for Explosives Safety, and the Department of Defense Explosives
Safety Board. |
| AUDITING |
EDE conducts on-site RCRA audits to assist clients in
correcting potential violations prior to regulatory scrutiny. |
REMEDIATION
EDE conducts evaluation, cleanup, and closure activities for
military, industrial, and former defense sites around the country.
| CONTAMINATION |
EDE is internationally known for effectively dealing with
sensitive explosives contamination problems in soil, air,
groundwater, and surface water. Other contamination includes
metals, solvents, and chemical agents. |
| UXO |
EDE performs geophysical surveys and ordnance
evaluation/cleanup for sites contaminated with UXO and OEW. |
| PLANNING |
EDE prepares operational and safety procedures required for
environmental remediation projects. These documents require
approval by state agencies, EPA, the Corps of Engineers, U.S.
Army Technical Center for Explosives Safety, and the Department
of Defense Explosives Safety Board. |
