The rotary kiln incinerator, or EWI, is based on the U.S. Army's APE 1236 demilitarization furnace and is in use worldwide. The cast steel retort sections have an internal helix which moves the waste forward, and isolates successive feeds from propagating explosions. The EWI disposes bulk explosives and propellants, as well as configured items such as small arms ammunition up to 20 mm. Larger items can also be processed with proper preparation. Feed systems, controls, and air pollution control equipment are tailored to the client's specifications.
